Second Niger Bridge will be ready on the 28th of Feb. 2022

 The managing director of Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority(NSIA) Mr Uche Orji disclosed  that the second Niger Bridge will be ready in 2022 precisely February 28.

The project was awarded to Julius Berger in 2014 by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan's administration at an Initial cost of 200 billion Naira but now extended to 220 billion Naira. It is expected by all and sundry that the bridge upon completion will generate revenue for the Federal Government.

In an interview with journalists, one of the foreigners handling the project stated that there's a 42 months of Extension which commenced from 14th of September 2018 through 28th of February 2022.

During an interview Mr Uche Orji stated:
"The second Niger Bridge Project was conceived to provide an alternative crossing between  Asaba and Onitsha with a reasonable distance from the current bridge  and it is expected to spur an increase in Investments, agriculture and trade especially with Onitsha main market.

HRH Igwe Achebe(Obi of Onitsha) and other Traditional Rulers urged the Government and the construction company to use local and good contents in the construction of the bridge.
